Special Session 2: Atmospheric Monitoring, Analysis and Prediction Modeling

Short description of the proposed topic:
We would like to invite scientific papers on “Atmospheric Monitoring, Analysis and Prediction Modeling”, related to local, regional, and global scale meteorological phenomina, air pollution mapping and monitoring using satellite and GIS (SAR, MODIS, etc.), indoor air pollution, and Artificial Intelligence (artificial neural network modeling, machine learning, deep learning), multivariate statistical modeling 3D-numerical modeling, air pollution impact on human health and its control, and air-sea interaction, etc.. Finally, we would like to welcome any manuscripts which may be slightly outside the above topics.

 

Novelty and motivation:
This session focuses on the practical research and application in Atmospheric monitoring, analysis and prediction modeling.

 

Short Biography of Organizer

 

Dr. Hyo Choi received BS and Ms degrees in Meteorology and Physical Oceanography, from Seoul National University (Korea; 1978) and two Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (USA, 1984) and in the Atmospheric Environment from Peking University (China, 2005). He acted as President of Korean Environmental Sciences Society (2002~2003), President and Vice President of Asia-Oceania Geosciences Society (AOGS; 60 nations-Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences sections) (2005~2009).   He has been also acting as Editor-in-Chief of 15 International journals (USA, Singapore, India, Korea) and Editor of 35 journals (USA, UK, Switzerland, Singapore, India, Nigeria, etc.) in Air Pollution, Disaster, Oceanography, Fishery, Fluid Mechanics, GIS, Civil Engineering, and Meteorology.  He was Council member of Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Maritime & Fishery Affairs, Ministry of Education of Korean Government, and Evaluation  Committees (Korean Science & Engineering Foundation (KOSEF), National Research Foundation (NFR), Korea Institute of Science & Technology Information (KISTI), National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER), Korea Hydrographic & Oceanic Agency (KHOA), National Fishery Research & Development Institute (NFRDI). He was Director General of East Sea Regional Research Institute (1989~1991), Dean of the Graduate School, Gangneung-Wonju National University (2009~2012), High-end Foreign  Export of South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, CAS, China (2015~ 2016), and Adjunct Professor of Zhejiang Ocean University, China (2013 ~2016).  In present, he is Director General, Atmospheric/Oceanic Disaster Research Institute, Korea (2014 ~present).
